Dated circa 1922. This painting can be regarded as the first known artwork depicting a female surfer.
François Maret, ook bekend als Frans van Ermengem of Frans Ermengem, was een Belgische dichter, schilder en kunstcriticus. Hij was de zoon van de bacterioloog Émile van Ermengem en de jongere broer van de schrijver Franz Hellens.
