These lithographs are miniature versions of some of the finest lithographed posters of the mid-20th century. They are the most coveted of the miniature posters that exist today due to the lithographic processes used to create them and the artists of the Mourlot studio who produced them, with supervision of Matisse himself.
The Original lithographic poster by Henri Matisse was printed by Mourlot in 1953 for an exhibition ’Les peintres témoins de leur temps’, Edition of 800, with very very vew left.

This lithograph poster is sourced from the publication 'Les Affiches Originales des Maitres de l’Ecole de Paris, 1959,' translating to 'Original Posters of the Masters of the School of Paris.' The book features the complete original posters of prominent artists such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Raoul Dufy, Fernand Léger, Georges Braque, Marc Chagall, and Joan Miró.

The original book spans 249 pages and was created to commemorate twenty-five years of posters printed by Mourlot. This commemoration followed an exhibition at the Galerie Kleber from May 1952 to January 1953. Fernand Mourlot, the renowned Parisian lithograph printer closely associated with artists like Braque, Chagall, Dufy, Léger, Matisse, Miró, and Picasso, meticulously produced this lithograph using the same technique employed for the original works. Mourlot emphasizes that "This composition is one of the early, very successful examples of abstract art published for a wide public."

Henri Matisse is a giant of modern art. Born in France in 1869, With a career spanning over half a century, his style evolved from paintings influenced by Impressionism, to boldly coloured works in the Fauvist style and eventually to his unique paper cut-outs, which are considered some of the most iconic works of the last century. Henri Matisse, Picasso and Marcel Duchamp are regarded as the three artists who most defined the revolutionary developments in the arts in the opening decades of the 20th century, responsible for significant developments in painting, sculpture, printmaking and ceramics.

ORIGINAL LITHOGRAPHS
A fine art lithograph is a valuable and collectible piece, distinct from mass-produced prints. Lithography involves a complex process using a smooth stone or metal plate where the design is applied. Limited edition lithographs are small print runs, each an original graphic created by the artist. The scarcity of prints, determined by the number of impressions from each plate, contributes to their collectibility. With a unique history, collectible prints often appreciate in value over time, making them an excellent investment that combines creativity, skill, rarity, and age.

Please note that the photos do not do the Artwork justice, as it is much nicer in real life! Please do not hesitate to mail me for more photos or descriptions as required. Also note that these Prints are Vintage and so they are not brand new.
